Dragon Man Preliminary Sketch

Although I do a lot of my character design straight from my computer, sometimes I enjoy working in ink and pencil. Here was a design I created during pre-production that I really loved.

Dragon men in the universe I was designing were supposed to be significantly bigger than humans, and naturally armored, which led to me only adding armor that would compliment dragon man anatomy. A blend of ceremonial preserved body parts and primitive materials, combined with an acquired weapon I felt fit his personality well. The shoulder pad is a decapitated living demon head, that cannot die, and continues to talk while providing an extra set of eyes. In some dark twisted way, it also affords companionship (since both share the same evil alignment). Everybody needs a friend!
