EverQuest Epic Weapons 2.0: Clerics Shield

Here is the Epic Shield I created for Everquest.

Since this shield was intended to be used by Clerics, and in game a Cleric could choose to follow from a choice of several different deities.

I felt that laying out an arrangement of metal rivets abstracted to represent the constellations would be a good way to represent the universe and the realm of the gods. By using gold and blue it gives an underlying feel of nobility at first glance and a sense of worth and value, yet this is also my subtle way of indicating the balance of day and night, light and dark, good and evil.

(I originally drew this in pencil, inked it in India Ink, then did the final coloring in Painter. I only did the formatting in Photoshop. It was originally showcased in one of the Painter annuals by ballistic publishing.)
