Warner Bros. / DC — BTAS Gold Edition (Trading Card System + Noir Variant)

Official work created for Warner Bros. as part of an approved collectible program (later paused during internal restructuring and not printed). Internally, the initiative was often referred to as “collectible animation cel art,” but the deliverables were structured as a full trading-card-format set, including card-sized cel inserts designed to be packed into each booster alongside the standard cards.

The goal was to refresh Batman: The Animated Series into a premium, anniversary-forward product language while respecting the original animation legacy. Using legacy character art as the foundation, I developed a repeatable graphic system that modernized presentation without “redrawing the show,” and could scale across a full character set.

Design goals:

-Preserve BTAS silhouette and iconic read while elevating the collectible feel

-Communicate “premium” through Art Deco framing and gold-foil cues tied to Wayne wealth / Gotham legacy

-Reinforce a film-noir mood through restrained value treatment, texture, and wear

-Build a scalable template that supports multiple characters and sub-formats

Formats shown:

-Standard character card (core format for the set)

-Noir poster variant (alternate format designed to echo classic film-noir one-sheets while following the same Gold Edition rules)

Source art note:
The included animation-cel/frame references are shown to credit the legacy foundation and make the transformation transparent—this work is about IP stewardship: preserving intent while updating product language for modern collectible presentation.
