Court of the Dead: Illverness, the Capitol of the Underworld

Illverness is the capital city of the Underworld in Sideshow’s Court of the Dead universe.

This painting was created as a foundational world-building asset to establish the architectural language, cultural tone, and spatial logic of the Underworld. It served as a canonical visual reference for writers, sculptors, and artists working across books, collectibles, and licensed media.

The image appears in Court of the Dead: Chronicles of the Underworld (2016) and was used as a long-term anchor for subsequent locations and expansions within the IP.

As part of my role on Court of the Dead, I was responsible for designing core locations and authoring their backstories and histories. These were delivered as visual concepts paired with written frameworks and incorporated into style guides to support internal teams and licensed partners.
